DANCE DESCRIPTIONS

BALLET:  Builds strength in technique and grace. Teaches the basic technique and form from which other dance forms are based upon. Recommended for all dancers.

POINTE:
Student MUST have ample ballet training and be approved by the Ballet Director before being placed in the class. Pointe is a form of ballet that requires strength and is performed wearing toe shoes.

JAZZ:
An expression of dance that combines ballet with hip-hop and other less structured forms of dance. A less disciplined interpretation of ballet.

PRESCHOOL DANCE & CREATIVE MOVEMENT:
Younger students will begin to build on the foundations of dance in a nurturing atmosphere.

TAP:  A fun and unique form of dance based on rhythm, timing and sound. Gareth’s style of tap is similar to that seen on “Stomp” and “Tap Dogs”. Miss Kathie teaches Broadway style tap.

HIP-HOP:  A routine where the majority of the content is “street-wise” jazz or contemporary street dance. Could include some replications of “video” choreography.

TUMBLING:  Learning basic acrobatic skills and emphasizing flexibility and strength.
